Our Trainer - Calvin Onn
Founder | Mindfulness Trainer | Educational Researcher
Calvin Onn is a seasoned mindfulness educator with over 30 years of personal practice and a deep passion for bridging ancient wisdom with modern science. His journey began in the legal world, where he practiced as a lawyer before fully dedicating himself to the path of mindful living and teaching.
Calvin is one of the few mindfulness professionals in Asia who has received dual training—rooted in traditional Buddhist and Taoist lineages, and formally certified by the Oxford Mindfulness Centre (UK) in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). He also holds a Master’s in Counselling Psychology from Taiwan and is currently pursuing a PhD in Education, focusing on mindfulness-based interventions for teens.
As the founder of CATalist Academy, Calvin developed the Mindful Smartphone Program (CMSP) - a science-backed mindfulness intervention specifically designed to help adolescents reduce smartphone addiction and cultivate attention, emotional regulation, and self-awareness. His program has been empirically tested with Malaysian teens, showing significant positive outcomes.
Calvin is also the author of the “Practical Attention System” handbook and a regular speaker at conferences, schools, and corporate wellness events. With a unique ability to translate deep mindfulness practice into real-life transformation, he is a sought-after teacher for both adults seeking balance and teens navigating the digital age.
